The desire to join together at a place and construct the temple at the earmarked place sprouted and grew in the mind of our people. Immediately, all the community people assembled at a place under the chairmanship of M. Muniyappa, who was a leading person among Shetties and quite an improvised Contractor. Then, the opinion of everyone was same. All the participants vociferously said in one voice that they are prepared to cooperate for the construction of the temple. At that moment, our Shetty chieftain sent a word for the priest of our community Sri Pujari Rangappa to come. During those days, he was going to Kalash, Kallattagiri, Tarikere and all other places for Puja. Therefore, there was no doubt that he was the most appropriate person and discussed with him about the proposal to construct a temple and said: “We have decided to construct a temple and you will be the priest in that temple.” All those present in that huge assemblage unitedly agreed to it in a single voice and Rangappa too agreed.

Construction of the temple began. Kam. Muniyappa, with the cooperation of some affluent people of the Samaja and with his own funds, came forward to accomplish the task of constructing the temple. He discussed with some of the elderly persons of our society about his hidden desire of consecrating the statue of our community deity Sri Kamakshamma Devi, who all agreed with him. Another meeting was organized to discuss this aspect. All members of the community attended the meeting without fail. He put forth the proposal to consecrate the statue of the Community Deity Sri Kamakshamma Devi in the proposed temple. Then, priest Rangappa said that Goddess Sri Kamakshamma Devi had ordered in his dream to carve out a statue of Rundamalini Devi in the name of Sri Kamakshamma Devi, consecrate her at the place where Puja was being performed then and name the deity as Sri Doddamma Jaladurgamma. The priest also explained that in his dream, the Goddess had said that if we translate her order into reality, our community will progress well and prosper better. All the people approved this by clapping together.

On one hand, the construction of the temple was going on briskly and on the other, a sculptor in Pillangiri was identified to create the statue of the deity. He was told that the shape of the Sri Devi stone should be in the form of Sri Rundamalini. The work went on as ordained.

The construction of temple was complete and on the other side, the statue of Sri Devi in the form of Rundamalini was also ready. People of the entire Samaja, the statue of the Mother Goddess was consecrated pompously, adhering strictly to the Shastra, the Agama Siddhanta, with the help of Brahmin priests who were experts in Agama and offered prayers thus:

As soon as this prayer was offered in a loud and clear voice, the blissful laughter of the crowd that had gathered there for the auspicious moment reverberated from the sky to earth. Sri Shetty Yajaman immediately ordered priest Rangappa to settle down in that very place to offer Puja to Sri Doddamma Jaladurgamma Devi without any hindrance or breach. Since that day, Mother Goddess Doddamma Jaladurgamma has been taking care of all the people of our community and they have been living without any trouble. The Goddess has paved the way for happy, peaceful family life. She has also seen to it that the community people tread on the path of their lives jointly, which is evident for all to see.
